Kondol started a punk band called the Smoldering Remains in the Seattle area in the 80's. He met Scott McCaughy (REM) who was working at a record store at the time. He encouraged Kondol to pursue completing an independent CD. This became his first CD called "Avand Guard", an album that had a Wilco sound. Kondol's next CD will be completed this summer '04 and will be mastered by Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Hot Hot Heat)

Ein Musiker wie er im Buche steht. Mitglied in mehreren Bands (u.a SPECIAL NEEDS). Er ist sehr wahrscheinlich ebenfalls auf unserem Sampler. Robin Renée (Singer & Songwriter from Atco, NJ. USA)

Music has been a constant throughout Renée's life; she was in her first "touring" band at the age of ten (The Half Mann Band played in local elementary schools.). A defining moment of clarity came as a teenager while she watched David Bowie on Saturday Night Live; he sang dramatically - in a long, beautiful gown. It was then that she knew that she could do anything and be anyone - on her own unique terms.

Renée is at once influenced by the light-hearted new wave style of the 1980's, the intensity of timeless singer/songwriters, and a long-time personal focus on Eastern and eclectic mysticism. She wrote and performed with the world-beat rock band Spy Gods while attending Rutgers University, where she was an honor student and an award-winning poet. Later, she fronted the pop band, The Loved Ones.
With renewed energy and a name for her brand of accessible tunes with a spiritual twist- Mantra-Pop! -Renée set out to form a new live band in the summer of 2003. She found just the right chemistry with Philadelphia-area musicians Evan Danziger (bass), Kevin McDevitt (drums), and Cyndee Lee Rule (violin). Full-on rock shows are now back on the menu, joining the schedule along with acoustic shows and kirtan, a form of Hindu devotional chanting in Sanskrit, for which Renée holds great passion.
When not performing or chanting ancient mantras in an ever-expanding circle of venues, Robin Renée may be found pursuing freelance writing, for which she has interviewed music greats like Ani DiFranco, Janis Ian, Richie Havens, and B. B. King. She has contributed her work to periodicals including Curve Magazine, PanGaia, The Washington Blade, Philadelphia Gay News, The Courier News, and Cool and Strange Music. Her essays have appeared in Blessed Bi Spirit: Bisexual People of Faith (Debra Kolodny, Ed., Continuum International, 2000) and That Takes Ovaries!: Bold Females and Their Brazen Acts (Rivka Solomon, Ed., Random House, 2002).
Here is a true alternative voice of artistry, love, and honesty that must be heard. Keep an eye on this journey.

AZWEL (From New York)

is a project that involves New York songwriter Jason Perrillo. He describes the music as interesting melodic pop. The songs are influenced by various styles of music ranging from the early britpop sounds of Blur, Suede to Radiohead or even the Pet Shop Boys. All of the album recording sessions take place in his home studio.
Azwel released a debut album, "Hap End Void" in 2003. The loosely based themes of each song range from dark humor, fictional storytelling, to obscure event descriptions. Azwel released the second album "Diversions" only a half year later. The sound was taken much further in this release as it featured more acoustic instrument sounds and less programmed beats. Azwel's music is filled with lush landscapes and wonderful melodies. Melody is key in every song. Many b-sides that don't make it to the final album can be found on the single releases. HOMEPAGE

For the Posers is the debut album from New York-based singer/songwriter/guitarist, Howie Statland and hisnew band, NYCSmoke. With 11 tracks of well-formed, intelligent and gritty rock, For the Posers reeks of the edgy attitude of New York's Lower East Side. After a creative journey, Statland has hit upon a musical nerve that leaves no room for wannabes. It is no wonder that Howie Statland wound up where he is today. At a young age, Howie's mother, a pianist, began teaching him her craft in his hometown of Chicago. At age 13, Howie would hear his first Who album and be forever changed; abandoning the piano for a much louder instrument. "I wanted to be Pete Townsend," he recalls. With this igniting spark, he bought his first guitar and poured over collected albums by The Beatles, The Talking Heads, The Who, The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed, cultivating his talent. Three years later, he began performing on the Chicago club circuit with various bands, further exploring his own sound and abilities. In 1989, Statland moved to New York City to attend college. It was here he met his future band mates of Thin Lizard Dawn who were subsequently signed to RCA Records. While in the band, he would record five albums and tour extensively. By their last year together, the band had grown artistically stagnant and collectively decided to dissolve the group.
